What are Mouldex Composites Fauxm Beams?
Mouldex Composites Fauxm Beams are premium, custom-crafted decorative beams designed to replicate the authentic look, texture, and character of real wood. They offer a lightweight, durable, and maintenance-free alternative to traditional lumber beams.
Are these beams made of real wood?
No. Our beams are faux (simulated), meaning they are crafted from stable, high-quality, lightweight materials (resin-cast polymers) designed to look and feel exactly like genuine wood. This material prevents the common issues associated with real wood, such as warping, cracking, and splitting.
Can these beams be used outdoors?
Yes. Our faux beams are finished with UV protection, which preserves the vibrant color and beauty of the beams, making them suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
Where are the beams made?
Our premium custom faux beams are proudly designed, fabricated, primed, stained, and protected right here in Canada.
How much do the Fauxm Beams weigh compared to real wood?
Our faux wood beams are significantly lighter, weighing only about one-tenth (1/10th) the weight of solid wood beams. This low weight simplifies transportation and makes installation much easier and less costly, as structural support modifications are typically not needed.
What kind of maintenance do the beams require?
Once installed and stained, our Fauxm Beams require zero maintenance. They do not need to be re-stained, sealed, or protected from pests, ensuring their enduring beauty without the hassle of continuous upkeep.
Do the beams warp or crack over time?
No. Unlike real wood, which naturally expands and contracts with humidity and temperature changes, our faux beams are crafted from stable materials that maintain their original size and appearance, eliminating the risk of warping, cracking, or splitting.
How long can the beams be made?
We custom-build our beams to your exact size specifications, offering seamless single-piece masterpieces up to a flawless 40 feet in length.
How does the ordering process work?
Our process follows a simple 3-Step Plan: 1. Inquire: Reach out for a consultation to define your design and choose the perfect beams. 2. Accept the Quote: Receive and approve a detailed quote for your custom project. 3. Install: The finished, ready-to-install beams are delivered and installed by your contractor.
Can you match the beam color to my existing finishes?
Yes. A key feature of our custom service is the ability to perfectly color-match the beams to existing elements in your space, such as your floors or trim, ensuring a refined and harmonious look.
Do you provide installation?
Installation is typically handled by your contractor. However, we offer free phone assistance with measuring, planning, and installation guidance to ensure a flawless and hassle-free experience for your team.
Do I need special tools or structural modifications to install these?
No. Because the beams are lightweight, the installation is straightforward and does not typically require the complicated or costly structural modifications that are necessary to support the weight of heavy real wood beams.
What is StoneRox veneer?
StoneRox is a high-quality, lightweight cladding material designed to replicate the appearance and texture of natural stone and full-sized brick. We offer a mix of products, including Manufactured Thin Stone Veneer (made from concrete, aggregates, and pigments), Natural Stone Veneer, Natural Stone Panels, Screw-On Stone, and Thin Clay Brick.
Is StoneRox real stone or manufactured?
We offer both. Our product lines include Natural Stone Veneer (real stone cut thin) and Manufactured Thin Stone Veneer (cultured stone made from concrete). Both options provide the look of full-sized masonry without the weight or cost.
How is StoneRox different from full-sized stone or brick?
Veneer is a non-structural, thin layer of material (typically 1 to 2 inches thick) that is adhered to a solid wall surface. Unlike full-sized stone or brick, StoneRox veneer is lightweight, requires no expensive footing or ledges for support, and is faster and easier to install.
Is the veneer load-bearing?
No. Stone veneer is a decorative, non-structural cladding material. It must be installed on a structurally sound substrate and is not intended to bear weight.
Can StoneRox be used indoors and outdoors?
Yes. All StoneRox products are engineered for both interior and exterior applications. Common uses include exterior siding, foundations, fireplaces, accent walls, kitchen backsplashes, and outdoor living spaces.
How much does StoneRox veneer weigh?
The weight varies by product, but our stone veneers are designed to be lightweight, typically weighing less than 15 lbs. per square foot. This low weight is what allows it to be installed easily without additional structural supports or footings.
Do I need to hire a professional installer?
While many project owners with masonry experience can handle the installation, we generally recommend hiring a qualified, experienced installer or mason. Proper surface preparation, moisture barrier installation, and mortar application are critical to ensuring the longevity and integrity of the installation.
How is StoneRox installed?
Most StoneRox products are installed using a multi-step process: 1) Preparing the substrate with a weather-resistant barrier (WRB), 2) Applying a metal lath and a scratch coat of mortar, and 3) Adhering the veneer pieces with a specialized mortar. Our Screw-On Stone is a proprietary system that allows for mortarless installation.
What is the difference between Grouted and Dry-Stacked installation?
Grouted installation uses a visible mortar joint between each stone piece, providing a more traditional masonry look. Dry-Stacked installation fits the stones together as tightly as possible with minimal or no visible joint, offering a sleek, contemporary appearance.
Can StoneRox be installed over concrete, brick, or drywall?
Yes, StoneRox can be installed over most surfaces, provided the surface is properly prepared. Installation over concrete or existing brick requires a proper moisture barrier and a scratch coat for proper adhesion. Installation over drywall (for interior use) must also follow recommended installation methods and weight limits.
How long will StoneRox veneer last?
When properly installed and maintained according to our guidelines, StoneRox veneer is extremely durable and can last for decades—often the entire lifespan of the structure it is applied to.
Will the color of the veneer fade over time?
Our Manufactured Thin Stone Veneer uses mineral oxide pigments blended throughout the material, which are highly resistant to UV rays and fading. Our Natural Stone Veneer products are inherently resistant to fading as they are quarried natural stone.
What maintenance is required?
StoneRox veneer requires minimal maintenance. Typically, you only need to clean it once or twice a year using a garden hose and a soft-bristle brush with a mild detergent and water.
What should I never use to clean my veneer?
Never use harsh chemicals, paint removers, acidic cleaners, or wire brushes. Do not use a high-powered pressure washer, as this can damage the surface of the stone or mortar joints.
Do I need to seal the stone veneer?
Sealing is typically not required for most exterior applications. However, if the veneer is installed in an area subject to frequent water runoff, splashing, or chemicals (like near a pool or in a backsplash), a high-quality, breathable, penetrating sealer may be recommended. Always consult our specific installation guides.
Is there a warranty?
StoneRox products are backed by a manufacturer's limited warranty that covers the material for specified periods, ensuring protection against defects. Please refer to the official StoneRox warranty documentation for complete terms and conditions.
What is StoCast Wood?
StoCast Wood is a collection of thin, lightweight, flexible, resin-cast planks designed to create an authentic wood grain appearance. It is a durable, low-maintenance, and cost-effective alternative to natural or engineered wood cladding.
What material is StoCast Wood made from?
The planks are made from durable, flexible, resin-cast polymers and are reinforced with acrylics. They are also made with Sto’s durable, UV-resistant coatings and finishes.
