Finish & Paint Application Best Practices
1. Surface Preparation & Inspection
Ensure all pre-finished plaster surfaces and skimmed miter seams are fully cured, clean, and free of drywall sanding dust. Vacuum or wipe profile edges prior to applying primer.
2. Recommended Primers & Sealers
Apply one coat of high-hide interior latex primer or drywall sealer over patched miter seams and adjacent joint compound to unify surface porosity prior to top-coating.
3. Topcoat Selection & Application
Use 100% premium interior acrylic latex, enamel, or water-based lacquer finishes. Apply two light coats using a brush, fine-finish roller, or airless sprayer for a smooth, hand-troweled plaster appearance. Avoid solvent-based paints.
